Brick Township Schools District staff have been cleaning rooms and installing new dehumidifiers this month after discovering a mold situation in seven classrooms.
A recent letter sent to parents detailed steps taken to eliminate the situation. “The most probable cause was the high humidity we experienced during the last weeks of August,” the letter said. “During our investigation, it was also discovered that the dehumidification system in that area of the building was not performing as designed.”
The Brick District has also brought on board Environmental Safety Management Corporation to “provide services for testing of air and surfaces and monitoring for temperature and humidity” so parents can be assured the areas are safe for children to occupy.
Test results are anticipated soon and the School Officials presumably will monitor and report. Schools open in Brick on September 5th.
